I am having a bit of trouble locating the flash drive in my operating system's browser. When I plug the flash drive in, it's not showing up in disk management. How can I fix this error?

Flash drive not showing up in disk management is the same way of saying flash driving not showing up at all when you connect it. This is an extremely common error in Windows (and other operating systems too, in my opinion). The thing is, flash drives are used with much less care than, say, a hard disk drive. They are removed without safely quitting them or they are plugged in systems loaded with malware, to name just a few. Also, HDD ports are not plugged in and out, while the ports that the flash drives use often succumb to malfunction. Here are a few reasons why it is not showing up:

There has been some sort of physical damage to the flash drive. This is highly unlikely that your flash drive has suffered physical damage and you haven't even noticed. But still, check for any damage.

There might be some bad sectors. A CHKDSK scan will sort the problem out.

The flash drive might have been infiltrated by malware or virus. This further puts a risk on the system it's connected to, so make sure you wipe it clean before the disease can spread.

Flash drives function only if the drivers match. For most flash drives, the drivers are easily found already installed in the host system. However, sometimes that might not be the case. You can Google with the manufacturer and make to manually download and install flash drive drivers.

The port might also be faulty. Try connecting a mouse or keyboard to the same port. Also, try connecting the flash drive to another port. There are so many ports in a cabinet and it's very natural that some are not working, or working perfectly.

Sometimes, a mouse might work with a said port, but not a flash drive. In that case, try reconnecting to another port and click on "Continue without scanning". Never eject the flash drive without safely removing the hardware first, that's what throws this error up.
