I opened up my iTunes and all of a sudden I got a message that says "api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing." Does anybody know what this is, I never encountered it before. Can anyone help me fix this?

The error “api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing” is frequently encountered by Windows users after they update iTunes to the latest version.

There are many ways to fix this issue, I will mention one of them here:

  1. Open Control Panel > Programs (If View by: Category) > Programs and Features
  2. Click on the 2nd Column i.e., Publisher to make sure we’re uninstalling every program signed by Apple Inc.
  3. Once every software signed by Apple has been uninstalled, reboot your computer.
  4. At the next startup, visit this official link (here) and scroll down to the iTunes installers section. Then, click on a ling associated with an older version to commence the download.
  5. Open the iTunes installer and follow the prompts to install the older version on your system. Once the installation is complete, reboot your system once again an see whether the  “win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing” error has been resolved.
