Huge difference, really. Just because they both have Java in their name doesn't mean they belong to the same family or even class of programming. Java is a programming language, JavaScript is a web-scripting language that controls and handles interactions on a web page. Java code make programs that run through virtual machines on practically any platform as a piece of software. Java is an object-oriented programming language where code is compiled. JavaScript is basically used to do fancy things like insert text dynamically or append a new class to an HTML element after a certain user interaction. JS text is basically text, and the programming and syntax is way more relaxed and forgiving than Java.

Some design is good, some design is bad, and yet some design is just full retard Comic Sans with a rainbow gradient on it.

There is much difference between them.

Java completely Object Oriented language.

JavaScript prototype-based programming language.

Even if JavaScript has classes, it isn't Object Oriented language. It still works prototype-based.

This is just one difference one of the differences.
