What does the error "Ping transmit failed. General failure" mean? Can you explain exactly what it is and more importantly, what do i do to fix it?

This is a debug account.

If the default gateway entry is missing, the message “General failure” could appear. This happens, when the computer tries to reach a host outside its subnet.

Resolution for this error is: Set TCP/IP Version

  1. Open Control Panel > Network and Internet > View network computers and drivers in the Network and Sharing Center
  2. Right-click on the network you're using; then click "Properties."
  3. Ensure the proper TCP/IP protocol version is checked in the list of free boxes.
  4. Click "Properties," then under the "General" tab, click "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" and "Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically." Then click "OK."
