You probably have a line of code that looks something like this:
document.getElementById('whatever').innerHTML = "New inner HTML";
The error you're describing is likely ocurring because the element that you're trying to get doesn't exist. Some possible reasons are:
- The script is running before the element is created (move the script to the bottom of the page)
- The element doesn't exist at all, your selectors have a typo, or your code is otherwise selecting the wrong element
