I am trying to share files with my friend using Windows Homegroup. When I go to change the settings to connect the computers, I get an error that says Windows cannot set up a homegroup on this computer. I'm not sure what else to try. Could someone advise me on how to set up a homegroup correctly?

Enable Peer network grouping services

  • Open Run box and search for services.msc
  • Search the list for Peer Network Grouping, Peer Network Identity Manager, Homegroup Listener, and Homegroup Provider.
  • If those services are disabled or set to manual set them to Automatic and leave your Homegroup.
  • Create new Homegroup and see if it works.
