Google, for the first time ever have told us in advance that they are releasing an algorithm update

What does this mean?

Several things:

  • SEO Twitter gurus won't be able to name this update like retards
  • 20,000 "is there an update?" tweets can be avoided
  • SEO Gurutards like Marie Haynes will be able to write her algorithm update conclusion in advance and just substitute some domain names into her blog post when Google completes the update

How will this change search?

It's not rolled out yet, but broadly speaking loads of sites will move around, no one will know why, some idiots will claim to know why, further idiots will read these explanations and then this will become a "fact" without any need of testing the theories put forward or understanding. This is SEO in 2019.

What will I need to beat the update?

Probably links.

Whats the point of this thread?

I figured we could just track the hysteria and retardation that will occure over the next 48-72 hours from 100's of SEO's who don't know how to do SEO.

Or we can discuss how the update fucked up our ranks and the best way to tie a noose after drinking half a gallon of whiskey.

SEMRush (affiliate link) is reporting these as the changes to the "SERP Features"

Fat increases on ads and shopping results, and it's not really a surprise:

This was while Barry Adams, (Polemic Digital) who boasts the Daily Mail as a client was at his 7th conference of the year presenting this shit:

What a great SEO consultant.
