Though I'm curious; I deal with companies firmly within the realms of 'YMYL', shit like finance and insurance - So actually getting people to write content that would be of benefit is fucking hard-work, because of that I've been using structured data to leverage one author in particular of this financial content across the website in the hopes of building some semblance of expertise and authority.
If "EAT" doesn't exist, then wouldn't that mean that the acronym "YMYL" is just short for bullshit too?

EAT is a set of guidelines for how manual-reviewers can evaluate webpages
YMYL states that certain niches have higher quality standards
Both of which are "real" in some sense, but from the perspective of actually running a website, they mostly translate to "post content that is accurate and useful." As far as I can tell, they're internal terms used for manual (i.e., not algorithmic) review of site content (such as applying manual penalties and so on) that were picked up by a blogger as the "next big thing" in SEO despite no real indication of that being the case.

I like how you understand that most of SEO is hyphenated bollocks.
I'm going to analyse a few competitors of a client, see if their content is vastly different from the quality we're producing.
But then; it raises another issue when it comes to YMYL, if you're publishing less professional shit in the finance industry anyway I feel the prospect is less likely to convert.
Listen, I'm not arguing, this is just the first place I've landed where the majority of people aren't just reciting buzz-words and circle jerking.
So your input is welcomed on the matter, as I'm always trying to broaden my knowledge.

Sir, I can do you a nice SEO.
I like the cut of your jib.

EAT and YMYL are both from the Search Quality Evaluator guidelines document:
Both of which are "real" in some sense, but from the perspective of actually running a website, they mostly translate to "post content that is accurate and useful." As far as I can tell, they're internal terms used for manual (i.e., not algorithmic) review of site content (such as applying manual penalties and so on) that were picked up by a blogger as the "next big thing" in SEO despite no real indication of that being the case.
